Think Like An Entrepreneur. Be An Authentic Artist. You Will Succeed.

To be totally honest, only a handful of people who use our service actually benefit from it. Not because our product isn’t great. It’s because most artist refuse to think like entrepreneurs.

Most artists, including me at one time, think that the music business is just about recording a song or video, putting it on YouTube or SoundColud, and magically getting a record deal.

Unfortunately that’s just not the case.

Whenever I come across a 7 Star Dreams member that actually gets it — I get excited.

Meet Darren Jackson aka JXON.

Before meeting Darren, he already had it in his mind that entrepreneurship was a key to his success.

  • On Jan 9, 2014, he created and registered his own record label — Edge Life Records, LLC
  • On Apr 25, 2014, Darren signed up for our service (7 Star Dreams v. 2.0)
  • On Jul 9, 2014, he put the audio to his single ‘Midwestside’ with Grammy Award winning producer JR on YouTube
  • On Sep 17, 2014, Darren created a music video to ‘Midwestside.’ As of this writing, the video got around 5,000 plays

Darren kept going.

  • On Dec 15, 2014, he released his next single ‘Makeup This Love’ on SoundCloud. He promoted it and the song took off.
  • By Jan 2015, Darren had been selected as one of the top 10 artists in the country as part of the Mountain Dew Greenlabel Sound competiton. As of this writing the song has over 40,000 plays.
  • On Jan 8, 2015, he dropped a video to his inspirational single ‘Makeup This Love’ on YouTube
  • On Jan 29,2015, Darren was recognized in the local newspaper, the St. Louis Post Dispatch, for his success in music and more

That’s about the last I heard from Darren. So what’s he doing now? Not much in music, however, he’s went on to start several different business, such as LOOP, which teaches kids in undeserved communities in St. Louis how to code.

Not bad huh? I definitely speak on behalf of everyone affiliated with 7 Star Dreams — that we’re extremely proud of Darren and all of his success. He went against the odds. He remained authentic. And he made his mark in music.
